Iran has imported some 2700 tons of standardised goods from Iraq via the Mehran border since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, ISNA quoted the Iranian Standards Organisation's director Nezameddin Barzegari as saying.
Goods include unrefined olive oil, thread, polyurethane and plastic scraps, he noted.
Iran on the other hand, has exported about 51,000 tons of goods, including cement, bricks, tiles, ceramics, and methanol via the same border to Iraq, he added.
Iranian trade with Iraq increased to $11 billion in the last Iranian year, according to Iran's ambassador to Baghdad, Hassan Danaeifar.
Bilateral trade is expected to reach as much as $15 billion in the current year, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on May 1.
