There is no plan to launch direct flight between Iran and the U.S., spokesman of Iran Foreign Ministry Abbas Araqchi said on July 9.
During a press conference published live on state TV IRIB, Araqchi said that circulated information about this issue is baseless.
Mehr News Agency reported in late June that necessary preparations were being made to sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the establishment of direct flights between Iran and the United States.
According to the report, Atlanta based Delta Air Lines and national Iranian flag carrier Iran Air are expected to transport passengers between Iran and the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi also said on June 26 the Islamic Republic welcomes the establishment of direct flights between Iranian and US cities after more than three decades.
"We welcome direct flights between Iran and the United States and have no problem with it," Salehi told IRNA.
