Tehran, Iran, Oct.25

The members of Iranian Chamber of Commerce have raised concerns regarding the main challenge in the foreign trade of the country: the New FOREX system, Mohammad Lahooti, the chairman of Iran Export Confederation told Trend.
As the government in Iran is facing intense pressure over the economic instability mostly caused by US sanctions, some cabinet changes were proposed.
Mohammad Shariatmadari, the outgoing industries minister has been nominated to head the Labour, Cooperatives and Social Affairs Ministry. Reza Rahmani, who has earlier headed the parliament’s commission on mining and industry, was named as the new industry, mines, and trade minister. Farhad Dejpasand, the proposed economy minister, has also worked as deputy head of the state Plan and Budget Organization.
All three proposed ministers had a joint meeting with members of the Chamber of Commerce on Monday October 22.
"During the session, the proposed Minister of Industry, the impression was made that Mr. Rahmani's views could attract private attention, and I personally felt that he had the will to solve the exporting problem of the country,” Lahooti said.
Lahooti further pointed out to Iran's exports, saying the country has good export opportunities in Iraq, Afghanistan and the countries of the Caucasus.
"While we are challenging and discussing foreign exchange contracts and exporters' issues, our rivals are planning to take the market,” he said.
“In Iraq market, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are waiting for the smallest mistake to immediately refill the vacuum. In the Caucasus, countries such as Azerbaijan and Turkey are continuously developing.”
Further speaking about Afghanistan, Lahooti said that Iran has lost its opportunities and Pakistan has jumped in for its piece of the market there.
