Export of non-oil products from Iran may halve by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Razi Haji Aghamiri, member of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture, told Tejaratnews website, Trend reports.
According to Aghamiri, there are 3 obstacles standing in Iran’s way for the export of non-oil products.
Aghamiri added that the first obstacle includes the US sanctions, the second obstacle is the impediments for the transfer of foreign currency between businessmen, and the third obstacle is the application of rules that have not been evaluated by experts.
Commenting on the decline in exports of which products should be expected for the current Iranian year, Aghamiri said that products such as petrochemicals and gas condensates usually have their own customers.
“There is actually no need for advertising or marketing for arranging the sale of products in this area. However, there is a need for marketing and competitiveness for non-oil products in global markets," he said.
The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018.
Iran's non-oil exports (when calculating gas condensates) amounted to $44.31 billion last year (from March 21, 2018 to March 20, 2019). Iran’s exports have decreased by 5.7 percent, compared to the previous year.
