Average monthly nominal earnings up in Georgia - Geostat

In the first quarter of the 2020, the average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia increased by 10.1 percent (110 lari/$36.06) compared to the same quarter of the previous year and amounted to 1,202.7 lari ($394.22), Trend reports with reference to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

As reported, the majority of sectorsshowed increase of the average monthly earnings compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

According to the economic activity the highest monthly earnings were observed in the following fields: financial and insurance activities – 2,596.4 lari/$851.04 (annual growth 37.1 percent), Information and communication – 1,887.9 lari/$618.81 (annual growth 7.8 percent), professional, scientific and technical activities – 1,794.8 lari/$588.30 (annual growth 0.2 percent), construction – 1,703 lari/$558.21 (annual growth 9.5 percent).

In1Q2020, the average earnings equaled to 960.4 lari ($314.80) for women, while 1,423.9 lari ($466.72) for men and the annual growth of earnings amounted to 84.3 lari ($27.63) and 129.8 lari ($42.55), respectively. In the majority of sectors of economy the average monthly earnings of men were higher compared to women.

During the reporting period, the average monthly earnings of hired employees in business sector increased by 75.2 lari ($24.65) and equaled to 1,227 lari ($402.18). In terms of economic activity, the highest monthly earnings were observed in the professional, scientific and technical activities and information and communication.

In the first quarter of 2020, the average monthly earnings of hired employees in non-business and financial sector increased by 168.1 lari ($55.10) compared to the same quarter of the previous year and amounted to 1,161.2 lari ($380.62). In terms of economic activity, the highest monthly earnings were observed in the financial and insurance activities as well as in the other service activities sectors.
