Iran's accession to Eurasia Economic Union would guarantee peace and security in the region in addition to economic and political achievements, said the Minister of Road and Urban Development.
"Iran's membership in the Eurasia Economic Union is very important since it is a market for 180 million people with rich resources and its possible to use preferential tariffs, reduce using USD and increase trade based on the national currency," said Mohammad Eslami, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The Eurasia Economic Union could be a path for supplying Iran's necessary needs in sanction situation and provide the possibility for joint investment in production and joint markets. It is necessary to use free trade agreement for suitable plans to improve trade and logistics, while production with better qualities could lead to a sustainable market," he added.
He went on to say that Anzali Free Zone is located near the Caspian Sea and part of the International North-South Transport Corridor and considering the transaction between ports in the Caspian Sea and connecting Iran's railway to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) railway network could create the opportunity to increase transit volume in the Caspian Sea area from 10 million tons to 50 million tons.
"There have been targets measures including infrastructure development in railway and progressing Chabahar railway, Qazvin – Rasht- Anzali railway are top priorities," he noted.
He also mentioned that the Central Asian countries and members of the Eurasian Economic Union could invest in Iran's southern ports and use the opportunity for transit in the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
