Azerbaijan doubles cotton exports

Azerbaijan exported cotton worth over $166.2 million from January through July 2021, which is 2 times more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC).

The share of cotton in total Azerbaijani exports increased over the year from 0.93 to 1.46 percent, said the report.

“Along with this, in the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported cotton worth $2.88 million, which is less by 16.6 percent, or $574,500, as compared to the same period of last year. The share of cotton in total Azerbaijani imports decreased from 0.06 to 0.05 percent over the year,” the report said.

“Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover in the first 7 months of this year approached $17.7 billion. Of these, exports accounted for nearly $11.4 billion (64.4 percent), and imports - $6.3 billion (35.6 percent),” the SCC report said.
