Iran observes decline in essential products import

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. Iran’s import of essential products, such as wheat, barley, corn, etc. decreased by 6.21 percent in value and 1.57 percent in volume, during the first 4 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran imported 7.35 million tons of vital goods worth $4.76 billion in four months.

During the specified time period, Iran imported 14 different types of necessary products.

o, approximately $1.3 billion worth of corn, $1.02 billion worth of various cooking oils, $707 million worth of oil-containing seeds (soybean and so on), $601 million worth of rice, and $525 million worth of wheat were imported to the country during 4 months.

Other imported products included barley, raw sugar, dry tea, red meat and others, but the details were not given.

In total, Iran imported 9.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $14 billion within the first three months of the current Iranian year.

This is an increase of 5.79 percent in value and 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the last year.
