Azeri Transport Minister Left for Korea

The Transport Minister of Azerbaijan, Ziya Mammadov, has left for South Korea on a visit, Trend reports quoting the Azerbaijan Ministry of Transport. During his visit, there will be debates on the bilateral co-operation regarding the transport and delivery of buses for alleviating the transport infrastructure of Baku City. The visit will conclude on 12 November.

The buses will be acquired by private passenger transporters, the same source told. The Ministry will regulate and authorize the standard of the buses to be used for passenger transportation in Azerbaijan.

Manufactures from Germany, Korea, China and other countries have put forward their proposals for the delivery of large-capacity buses to Azerbaijan. At present the economical assessment of these proposals is being studied.

The most favorable proposals will be selected. During the first stage, 200 buses are planned for delivery and another 500 buses are planned in the future.

The project is carried out under the order of the Azerbaijani President On modernization of the transport system in Baku city in 2006-2007.
