Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend / The Azerbaijan State Railways (ASR) acquired two trains from Russia. At present talks regarding payemnt of the trains are underway, the ASR reported.
Last year Azerbaijan purchased 4 electric trains from Russia each worth $220,000. However, at present their cost has increased several times over. The trains are acquired at the expense of the ASR funds.
Last year the Azerbaijani railways also purchased 5 new trains from Russia at the amount of AZN 10mln.
This year the ASR intends to acquire 4 trains, which are currently used in Russia. At present the ASR uses 111 electric trains. Ninety of them are used for cargo deliveries and 21 are used for passenger transportation.
