Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee has completed the development of a new program on further improvement of state statistics scheduled for 2008-2012. The chairman of the Committee, Arif Valiyev, reported that the program would be soon submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for further consideration.
The program provides for improvement of the state statistics, methodological basis and implementation of tasks in compliance with the requirements within the framework European Neighbourhood Policy. In this connection the Committee cooperates with Poland and Hungary statistics, which have already introduced the European statistical standards. "The data we do not have will be received through new accounting and additional indexes of accounting," Valiyev said.
Great importance is attached to communication issues and innovation processes, what is proved by the new program. There are 26 indexes characterizing innovation processes. Half of them have been introduced in Azerbaijan so far.
The members of the Committee used the experience of the CIS countries, Russia in particular, while development of the program and held consultations with the representatives of the European, Sweden, Poland, and Hungary statistics for this purpose.
The implementation deadline will expire in 2007. The new program is the third implemented in this field.
