"World Oil Demand to Experience Slight Growth in  2009" – OPEC

Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 July / Trend corr. A.Badalova/ "World oil demand will total 87.71mln bpd in 2009, while in 2008 it is 86.8mln bpd," OPEC monthly oil market report says.

Oil demand growth in non-OPEC countries will comprise 1.2mln bpd in 2009. In 2009, oil demand will comprise 4.12mln bpd in former Soviet countries.

According to OPEC, oil demand in OECD countries will drop by 0.3mln bpd to 48.54mln bpd in 2009. North America's oil demand will amount to 25mln bpd next year.

OPEC forecasts that non-OPEC countries' oil supplies will rise by 0.9mln bpd to 51mln bpd in 2009. Increase in supplies will occur mainly due to Brazil, United States, Russia, Azerbaijan, Canada and Australia.

In 2009, OECD countries will produce 19.88mln bpd, which is by 0.01mln bpd less than in 2008. Oil production in former Soviet countries will account to 13.28mln bpd in 2009, an increase of 0.43mln bpd from 2008.
