The Azerbaijani Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri (engineering services) closed joint stock company (CJSC) plans to transport and to refine oil slum, accumulated at the Baku Oil Refinery Plant (ORP) N19 of Azneftyag (ORP), located in the Black City (area in Baku), the company said.
The ORP is under the management of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR).
This project will enable to reduce significantly the negative impact on the environment, particularly, in this area of Baku.
Under the contract, Ekol acts as a contractor, which should provide transportation of accumulated oil sludge and its refinery. As part of the contract, the company transported and packaged into special containers about 26,000 tons of oil sludge in August. The company will launch the refinery of the packed sludge shortly.
Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri was co-founded in March 2006 to solve ecological problems in Absheron. SOCAR holds 51 percent of shares and Lancer S.A. Services 49 percent of shares in the company.
