A new associated petroleum gas processing plant was put into exploitation in the Kumkol field in the Gyzylorda region of Kazakhstan on Oct. 1, Trend special correspondent reported.
"Commissioning of the plant with full capacity in the Kumkol solved the problem of full utilization of associated petroleum gas. Gas processing plant costs $92 million and its annual capacity is150 million cubic meters of marketable gas and 65,000 tons of liquefied natural gas," Director General of JSC Turgay Petroleum, Alik Aydarbaev said at the ceremony.
He said dry gas is consumed for own need as fuel for stoves to pump oil, and sent to gas turbine plant to generate electricity.
A liquefied gas is transported via vehicles and enters the domestic market or is exported," added Aydarbaev.
Attending the opening ceremony of the new plant, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Gulshara Abdykalikova noted that the launch of the plant will open more than 70 new jobs.
The Kumkol field is operated by JV Turgay Petroleum, where on a parity basis, shareholders are LUKOIL Overseas and PetroKazakstan (group of Chinese CNPC).
The field was discovered in 1984. JSC Turgay Petroleum has been operating at Kumkol since 1995. Production volume in 2008 reached 3.2 million tons of oil and 142 million cubic meters of associated gas.
Some part of oil production goes to the Shymkent oil refinery, and another part to the pipeline to China and the rest to the CTC.
Recoverable reserves are more than 20 million tons.
