The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Uzneftegaz have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Uzekol joint venture in Uzbekistan, SOCAR Vice President on Ecological Issues Soltan Aliyev said. Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri is the founder of the JV from the Azerbaijani side.
According to the official, the venture will be engaged in cleaning oil-contaminated land and processing oil sludge in Mubarekneft, which is located 1,000 kilometers from Tashkent.
According to Aliyev, preparatory works are underway. Documents are being drafted, and the situation is being studied, as are sources of investment, and the necessary drilling equipment.
