Contraction of the new power plant to produce photovoltaic modules (solar panels) and LED-lamps in Sumgait will be completed by late 2011, Deputy Head of the Azerbaijani Alternative and Renewable Energy Agency Jamil Malikov said on Friday.
"The plant construction is underway and is expected to be completed by late 2011," Malikov said.
He said the plant's annual production capacity will amount to more than 100,000 units of photovoltaic modules with total capacity of 25 megawatts, as well as about 1 million units of various energy-saving lamps.
The plant construction is financed through private and foreign capital, Malikov said.
