France to assist in construction of solar panels producing plant in Astana

The Kazatomprom head Vladimir Shkolnik and director general of the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission Bernard Bigot signed a memorandum on scientific cooperation in Paris, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

"At the headquarters of the French Atomic Energy Commission Vladimir Shkolnik and Bernard Bigot signed a memorandum on scientific cooperation concerning the renewable energy sector," the ministry said.

This opens new prospects and is an important component in the implementation of joint projects, including construction of a plant producing solar panels in Astana.

"At the same time, the sides continued to discuss the program of the International Centre for Renewable Energy Sources, to be created in Astana, the ministry said.

Also an agreement on cooperation in nuclear energy and renewable energy development was reached during the meeting.

"The achieved agreements will be discussed during the French Secretary of State (Minister) for Transport Thierry Mariani's visit to Kazakhstan in early May, ," the report says.
