Some 3,516.6 million cubic meters of gas, including 1,722.3 million cubic meters of natural gas were extracted in Kazakhstan in March 2011, the Central Dispatching Department of the Kazakh Statistics Agency told Trend.
"Gas production increased by 2.5 percent compared to March 2010, while natural gas production dropped by 0.6 percent," the department's report says.
At the same time, according to the department, gas production increased by 13.2 percent and natural gas production by 15.8 percent compared to the previous month.
"The indicative plan for the current month on gas production was implemented at 94.2 percent, while on natural gas 92.6 percent," the department's report says.
It also indicates that the average daily gas production in March this year amounted to 113.4 million cubic meters, while natural gas - 55.6 million cubic meters.
"According to data, gas export amounted to 981.5 million cubic meters in March, 2011, the export equals to 27.9 percent in the extraction of 3,516.6 million cubic meters," the report says.
According to preliminary data, in March 2011 the import of natural gas amounted to 674.7 million cubic meters. This is 5.3 percent less than last month and 10.6 percent higher than in March last year.
