The Kazakh Oil and Gas Ministry developed a new bill that will tighten control over the sale of substandard gasoline at filling stations," Minister Sauat Mynbayev told Trend.
"We have presented the parliament with a bill [on the turnover of oil products], which would oversee the quality of oil manufacturing. Parliament has held extensive discussions over the document, as this is a serious law," Mynbayev said.
The new bill will be considered at the parliament's plenary session on May 11.
Mynbayev said gasoline or diesel fuel supplied from a plant is tied to a fairly rigid system of quality control, thus there would not be much difficulty in maintaining such a project here.
"Then gasoline is supplied to filling stations through many intermediaries and it is very difficult to keep track of this chain. The document reflects just such moments," he added.
The ministry plans to reduce the number of intermediaries by tightening the requirements for companies operating in this sector. First, companies must have profile assets.
"Then their number will decrease and they will retain consistency in operation. Thus, it would be easier to maintain control," Mynbayev said.
He said the issue can not be solved purely through administrative methods. Much depends on the pricing policy. He said a large gap in prices between gasoline AI - 80 and AI - 92 pushes the gas station owners to "add various additives" to gasoline.
