IEA raises world oil demand forecast for 2012

World oil demand in 2012 will grow by 1.6 million barrels per day (1.8 percent) to 91.1 million barrels per day.

These forecasts are contained in an EIA report on the oil market released today. The EIA has increased its forecast for world oil demand for 2012 by 0.1 million barrels per day.

The increased forecast is associated with expectations of growth in oil demand in Japan.
According to the EIA forecasts, world oil demand in 2011 will increase by 1.2 million barrels per day (1.4 percent) and amount to 89.5 million barrels per day.

According to the EIA, world oil supplies in July increased by 0.6 million barrels per day and amounted to 88.7 million barrels.

OPEC oil supplies, according to the EIA, rose by 0.1 million barrels per day last month and amounted to 30.05 million barrels per day.
