Iran will launch the biggest gasoline production unit in Middle East at Imam Khomeini refinery on Tuesday, which is intended to increase the super gasoline production by 3 million liters, Mojnews reported quoting Deputy Oil Minister Ali-Reza Zeighami as saying.

Iran will launch another gasoline production unit in Abadan refinery in next three months that increase super gasoline production to 2 million liters.

He noted Iran is not importing gasoline and it only import octane material to increase quality of domestic gasoline production in some refineries.

Zeighami said earlier emergency plans would help boost the country's gasoline output sharply by early 2012

Previously member of parliamentary energy commission Nasser Soudani confirmed the Oil Ministry issued order to import of 14 million liters of gasoline temporarily, due to low quality of octane in domestic gasoline production.

Iran 's average gasoline consumption is 60 million liters per day while 48 million liters of consumption provided by 9 refineries in the country.
