Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today stated Azerbaijan will increase gas supplies to Turkey in subsequent years, the Turkish newspaper Zaman reported.
Unity and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey are bearing fruits now, and this cooperation will continue in the future, Aliyev said at a ceremony of laying the foundations of a petrochemical complex in Aliaga in Izmir today.
"Azerbaijan and Turkey have a common position on all issues," Aliyev noted. "Today's event testifies for it. We have done a lot and will continue doing a lot in future."
He said the project on the refinery construction meets the interest of both Turkey and Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev also called on the Turkish investors to invest in Azerbaijan.
A ceremony laying the foundations of a petrochemical complex Petkim, in which the Azerbaijan State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has a share, took place today in the Turkish city of Izmir.
President Aliyev and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the ceremony.
Based on the gas supply contract in the framework of the Shah Deniz project, Turkey should receive 6.6 billion cubic meters of the Azerbaijani gas. The country will receive additional 6 billion cubic meters of gas within the Shah Deniz-2 project.
