Kazakhstan, Astana, Jan.10 / Trend, L. Podolyak /

Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry denied there was a lack of jet fuel in the country last week. According to the ministry, the false information was wrongly disseminated as a result of a press service employee's mistake.

"This issue has been under the special control of the minister since early this year and after the meeting the spokesman hurried to promptly distribute this information to the media outlets, but there was an inaccuracy. There is no shortage of jet fuel," the Ministry say rebuffing the previous information.

The Transport and Communications Ministry's press release dated Jan.6 said that the remaining fuel at the Kazakh airports was 30,700 tons, of which 7400 tons accounts for Air Astana and 96 tons for SCAT Airline. According to the previous report, the ministry is allegedly taking urgent measures to provide civil aviation with jet fuel.

Each year, Kazakhstan needs about 600,000 tons of jet fuel. A great part, about 400,000 tons is produced by domestic oil refineries, the rest being supplied by Russia.
