Turkey's state-owned company increases tariffs for electricity sales

The Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Company (TETAS) has increased itstariffs for electricity wholesales by distribution companies, TETAS said in its report published on its official website on Monday.

From Oct. 1, electricity tariffs will hit 0.208 lira per kilowatt / hour. Previously, the tariff was 0.189 lira per kilowatt / hour.

During the period from January to July 2012 electricity generation in Turkey increased by 8.1 percent compared to the same period of 2011, amounting to 141.4 billion kilowatt / hour.

Imports of electricity into Turkey for seven months amounted to 2.9 billion kilowatt / hour.

Electricity consumption during the reporting period increased by 8.2 percent compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 144 billion kilowatt / hour.

The official exchange rate is 1,7847 TRY / USD on Oct.1.
