Iran plans to construct a 230-MW power plant in Lamerd country, located in the southern Fars province.
The country plans to carry out big projects in Lamerd Especial Zone. The region's only problem is electricity shortage, which will be solved once the proposed power plant comes on stream.
South Aluminum production unit will be the first unit to come on stream in the region.
The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) is currently in negotiations with foreign investors to carry out major steel projects in Lamerd.
Iran's electricity production capacity is around 70,000 megawatt hours.
Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.
Iran seeks to become a major regional exporter of electricity and has attracted more than $1.1 billion in investments for the construction of three new power plants.
