Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug.2
By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:
The exemption decision on the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria is expected to be made by late August this year, Teodora Georgieva, executive officer at ICGB AD joint venture company, the project’s operator, told Trend.
She noted that based on the capacity booking as a result of the market test, the exemption procedure was initiated in 2017.
“The exemption procedure has already been finalized and the decision is expected at the end of August,” said Georgieva.
She pointed out that based on the exemption decision the project is expected to obtain 100 percent exemption from tariff regulation and 50 percent exemption from the regulated third party access.
IGB is a gas pipeline, which will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, in particular, the gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 gas and condensate field. IGB is expected to be connected to TAP via which gas from the Shah Deniz field will be delivered to the European markets.
The initial capacity of IGB will be 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
