BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec.19. The assumptions for gas supply via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) between 1 December 2022 and 1 April 2023 are the same as September-November 2022 (4 billion cubic meters), Trend reports with reference to the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES).

OIES says in its latest report that the assumptions for summer 2023 are the same as in summer 2022 (6.9 billion cubic meters).

“Pipeline supply from Azerbaijan increased by 2.85 Bcm in January-November. Supplies from Azerbaijan have been the most stable, with only a minor dip in August during maintenance works on the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline. With TAP operating at full capacity, there is no scope for a meaningful increase in supply from that source in the near future,” reads the report.

As the European section of the Southern Gas Corridor, TAP has the capacity to transport approximately 10 billion cubic meters of gas per annum (bcm/a) to several markets in Europe. The pipeline is also designed with the potential to expand its throughput capacity up to 20 bcm/a.

TAP is strategically and economically important to Europe and essential in providing reliable access to a new source of natural gas. TAP plays a significant role in boosting Europe’s energy security, supply diversification, as well as decarbonisation objectives.

TAP’s shareholding is comprised of bp (20 percent), SOCAR (20 percent), Snam (20 percent), Fluxys (19 percent), Enagás (16 percent) and Axpo (5 percent).
