BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The share of natural gas in Azerbaijan's total exports from January through August 2024 decreased to 29.92 percent from 42.92 percent in the country's total exports in the first eight months of 2023, Trend reports on Monday, citing data from the State Customs Committee (SCC) based on the processing of customs declarations.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee shows that (according to the submitted declarations), Azerbaijan exported 15.83 bcm of gas worth $5.46 billion from January through August.
According to the SCC, during the same period of 2023, a total of 17.4 bcm of gas worth $10.45 billion was supplied from the country to the world markets.
The decline in Azerbaijan's revenue from gas exports is due to the fall in global gas prices.
Azerbaijan exported 23.86 bcm of gas in 2023 (6.9 percent growth by 2022).
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's gas exports are expected to reach 25 bcm in 2024.
The share of oil in total exports amounted to 56.54 percent from January through August 2024, compared to 46.13 percent in the same period last year.
