At present, Baku is supplying with about 2.7 m. cubic meters of gas per day, Tahir Aliyev, Chief of the Baku Central Gas Production Association Bakgaz told today, Trend reports. This volume fully satisfies the needs of the local population in gas consumption, he pointed out.

The last winter, Baku City was supplied with the record volume of gas up to 13 m. cubic meters a day. According to the Head of Bakgaz, they are not sure that the same volume of gas consumption will be observed in autumn-winter 2007-2008. Over the year, a great number of gas counters have been installed at the gas consumer places. That will bring to economy and reduction in gas consumption as a result of it. Thus, despite the fact that the number of gas consumers have increased on 20.000 this year, the gas consumption can be remain at the normal level of winter`s consumption of gas or even lower.

In addition, starting from October-November this year a gas Offtake to Baku from the gas condensate field Shahdaniz is expected. However, the volumes of the gas Offtake have not been determined yet.
