Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to $237.8 million in the second quarter of 2020, which is a 0.5 percent increase compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The top three countries that invested the most in the second quarter of 2020 were: United Kingdom (24.8 percent), Netherlands (22.4 percent), Turkey (13.3 percent).
They followed by the US (8.4 percent), Slovakia (6.8 percent), Malta (6.1 percent), Luxembourg (4.2 percent), Iraq (4.2 percent), Switzerland (3 percent), Denmark (2.6 percent), other countries (4.4 percent).
The share of the three largest investor countries in the total volume of foreign direct investments reached 57 percent in the reporting period.
The largest share of FDI was registered in the financial sector, reaching $78.1 million in the second quarter of 2020, the energy sector was the second with $29.6 million, followed by the construction sector with $27.7 million.
