The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 413,962 vehicles during the first seven months of 2020, which is 17.5 percent less than during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
As of Aug. 1, 2020, total number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.9 million.
The committee noted that 85.7 percent of registered cars work on gasoline. Some 11.7 percent of the cars operate on mixed fuel, 2.5 percent on diesel fuel and 0.1 percent on LPG.
The number of registered car accidents amounted to 6,270 cases over the course of first seven months of 2020, which is 26.9 percent less than during the same period of 2019. Some 9,096 people were injured in these accidents.
As of Aug. 1, 2020, insurance companies made 39,400 payments worth 16 billion tenge (approximately $37.7 million) on Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Vehicle Owners.
By a decree of Kazakhstan's President Kassym Jomart Tokayev, as a result of the spreading coronavirus pandemic, quarantine regime has been introduced in a number of Kazakh cities and regions, thus restricting transportation and use of personal vehicles.
Due to the introduced restrictions the number of car accidents has significantly decreased all across the country.
