Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 July / Trend corr. S.Babayeva/ Drop in software expenditures may lead to a drop in prices for internet in Azerbaijan by 15%, Azerbaijan's Minister for Communications & IT Ali Abbasov said on 19 July.

"Establishment of Internet Development Coordination Council attached to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and IT at the beginning of this year lead to a drop in internet prices by 30-35%," said Minister. The drop in prices was enabled by preferences applied by Delta Telecom (owns global network exit from Azerbaijan) to providers.

According to Abbasov, possible decrease in prices for resources (not only automatic telephone exchange, but also channels and other local resources) of Aztelekom PA and Baktelekom for internet providers is being currently negotiated.

There are 30 internet providers operating in Azerbaijan, with only two of them state owned. Internet users in Azerbaijan have numbered 1mln.
