Azerbaijan to launch LTE mobile network by 2014

The Azerbaijani mobile operator Azercell is expected to transit to LTE technology, which provides higher data transfer rates, in 2014, Ericsson Manager on Solutions, Yerman Tanim told Trend .

Tanim said today the 3G system of Azercell Telecom is based on standard WCDMA / HSPA, with a view to transit to LTE. Full transition to the LTE network in Azerbaijan can be expected by 2014.

"For the first time in the world, 3G technology was announced in 1999, but the operators have been engaged in applying this since 2005. In this regard, a full transition to LTE in Azerbaijan can be expected by 2014," said Tanim.

3G network of Azercell is based on solutions of Ericsson and is now in test operation. After obtaining a license, 3G network will be put into test operation in the shortest possible time. Data transfer rate in the area of each base station will be 21 Mbps, which will be equally distributed among subscribers, both being and enjoying the services of data transmission.
