Azerbaijani mobile operator conducts operations on expansion of 3G network

Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon LLC is expanding its 3G network, Azerfon Corporate Communications Manager Elshad Farzaliyev told Trend.

According to Farzaliyev, operations on installation of telecommunications equipment are conducted in the resort village of Nabran in the Khachmaz region. Given the fact that the number of tourists, often using mobile communications, significantly increases in summer, then the attention is focused on improving the radio coverage.

Installation of 3G equipment will provide the population of the Autonomous Republic with traditional voice services and high speed data transmission, mobile TV, video calls and other communications services.

3G mobile communication is characterized by a high-speed data transmission. The speed of data transmission in 3G network reaches 3.5 Mbps. It provides operational loading of multimedia content, high-speed Internet access, usability of e-mail and file applications.

Today, Azerfon's 3G network is deployed in Baku, Sumgait and Absheron peninsula, as well as in Ganja, Shirvan, Nakhichevan, Mingachevir, Sheki, Tovuz and Shamkir. The company's future plans include expanding of 3G network throughout the republic.

At present, number of subscribers of Azerfon hits 1.5 million.
