Azerbaijan, Baku, April 22 / Trend H.Valiyev /

A seven-digit numbering system will be applied throughout Azerbaijan, the Ganja telecommunications node told Trend.

The Azerbaijani Communications and It Ministry made a decision to transfer Aztelekom's all telecommunication nodes to the seven-digit numbering system. The ministry tasked the operator to prepare the entire telephone network to move from the six to seven-digit numbering system.

The seven-digit system application is considered in the scale of the republic, and this may be realized following the readiness of all regional telecommunications nodes.

The Ganja telecommunications node is fully prepared for the transition to the seven-digit numbering system. Work on a full electronization of PSTN has been completed.

Today, work is underway to connect two mini-ATSs 53/59 in the Sevinj and Girmizi kend settlements. Ganja's numbers will start with the index "5" (554-xx-xx, 555-xx-xx, etc.), after the changeover to the seven-digit numbering system. The new system will allow the operator to increase the numbering capacity, which will also solve the problem of shortages of available rooms.
The seven-digit numbering system is already used in telephone networks in Baku, Sumgait and Nakhchivan.
