Ericsson to Allocate Grant to Azerbaijan for Creation of IT University

Swedish Ericsson intends to allocate a large-amount grant for the preparation of the platform of Caspian International IT University that will be created in Azerbaijan. The grant is expected to be allocated in 2007, the Director General of the Center of Communications and Information Technologies under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Fikrat Aliyev told Trend.

The grant amount hasn't been specified yet. Except grant, the Ministry of Communications will also disburse finances for these works.

The issue of creating the university will be discussed during the international conference Special economic zone: New directions of sustainable economic development in Azerbaijan with the participation of specialists from Thailand, Kuwait and Netherlands. The Rector of Chalmers University Jane Smite will deliver a report at the conference, Aliyev emphasized.

The signing of the Agreement Protocol between the Organizational Committee for the creation of the Caspian International IT University and the University of Information Technologies of Chalmers Technological University took place on 10 August at the Ministry. The Agreement includes support for the preparation of the platform for the university that intends to train specialists with bachelors and magistracy degree in accordance with contemporary program, cerate training methods for technological and educational programs, train high-qualified specialists and pedagogical staffs, as well as create material-technical base on base of multimedia and modern technologies.
