Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The mobile operator of Azerbaijan, Azercell Telecom JV, has put into operation GPRS/MMS roaming service with Japan NTT DoCoMo operator. This is the first GPRS/MMS roaming agreement with the operator from Japan.
Up until today Azercell Telecom JV has signed the GPRS/MMS roaming agreement with eighty-fivenetwork operators from thirty-eightcountries around the world. Joint venture "Azercell Telecom" was established on 19 January 19 1996. Founders were Turkcell Yleti?im Hizmetleri A.S. and the Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan Republic.
"Azercell Telecom" started its activities on 15 December 1996 offering subscribers mobile telecommunications services based on a post-paid system. In 1998 the pre-paid system was launched with a tariff package - SimSim that was very successful. As the leader of the market and a very dynamic company, Azercell is known as the trend-setter in the mobile telecommunications market in Azerbaijan, applying new technologies and offering various tariff packages, products, and services that are beyond customer needs.
