Azerbaijani companies to showcase goods, services at international shipbuilding event

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. Azerbaijani companies will present their products and services at the international exhibition of civil shipbuilding "NEVA 2023", said leading marketing specialist Kristina Alimova of NEVA-International Company, Trend reports.

According to her, such well-known enterprises as Baku Shipyard and Turanka Supply are announced among the exhibitors.

"The 17th International Exhibition and Conference on Civil Shipbuilding, Shipping, Port Activities, Ocean, and Shelf Development, "NEVA 2023," will be held in St. Petersburg from September 18 to 21, 2023. NEVA is currently considered the largest maritime exhibition in Russia and is among the top 10 global industry exhibitions. The shipbuilding cluster in Azerbaijan will be represented by Baku Shipyard. This is a joint venture of the Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), and the Singaporean company Keppel", Alimova emphasized.

She also noted that a delegation from Turanka Supply, a supplier of marine engines and spare parts, will come to NEVA.

"Currently, it is a distributor of more than 100 well-known brands. At the exhibition, the company will present to Russian partners revolutionary solutions for replacing Western products with high-quality analogs from friendly countries. One of the important advantages lies in innovative delivery methods. The company is ready to offer its partners unique turnkey supply methodologies that can be a solution to many problems and challenges facing shipping companies," she added.

The NEVA exhibition will cover an area of more than 30,000 square meters. About 700 exhibitors and more than 30,000 visitors and delegates are expected to participate.

Moreover, the shipyard (Baku Shipyard) was commissioned in 2013 and provides shipbuilding and ship repair services for the marine and offshore industries in the Caspian region. The enterprise specializes in the design and construction of commercial and passenger vessels, tugboats, ferries, and other watercraft. The plant's production capacity is 25,000 tons of steel structures per year, and it is also capable of repairing up to 100 vessels per year.

Also, among the projects implemented by Baku Shipyard are the tanker "Lachin", included in the top 50 best ships of the world in 2019 according to the British Royal Society of Ship Engineers RINA, the underwater construction vessel "Khankendi" (for work on the Shah Deniz gas condensate field), the Ro-Pax ferry vessel "Zarifa Aliyeva and the ferry vessel "Azerbaijan", included in the top 50 best ships of the world in 2021 according to RINA. At the end of 2022, the tanker "Akademik Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh," with a carrying capacity of 7,800 tons, was put into operation.
