ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 3. Representatives of the Russian Railways Logistics JSC made a business visit to familiarize themselves with the capabilities and capacities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport in Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
According to the Turkmen Maritime and River Transport Agency, they got acquainted in detail with the capabilities, services, and technical capabilities of the general, bulk, container, and passenger ferry terminals of the seaport.
During the visit, representatives of Russian Railways Logistics held a business meeting with representatives of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, 'Demiryollary' OJSC, and 'Transport and Logistics Centre of Turkmenistan' JSC. During the meeting, the possibilities of logistics in the transport sector of Turkmenistan and the advantages created by the country for foreign forwarders were discussed.
Russian Railways Logistics representatives noted that it is possible to carry out regular transportation of grain crops between the ports of Makhachkala, Astrakhan, and Turkmenbashi International Seaport in the direction of Afghanistan and Iran, as well as regular container transportation between the ports of Turkmenbashi and Astrakhan.
They stressed that they would send their recommendations through official channels based on the results of the analysis and also added that they were interested in delivering goods to the port of Turkmenbashi by sea finMarch 2024 if the results of the analysis found it favorable.
Meanwhile, within the framework of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia, the focus remains on the development of cooperation in transport projects, especially within the framework of the International North-South Transport Corridor.
Both countries adhere to a mutually beneficial approach, striving to expand transport links and ensure the efficient use of transport routes, which includes joint infrastructure investments, modernization of transport networks, and the exchange of advanced logistics technologies.
