Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov met with members of the German Bundestag Franz Thönnes and Karin Shtrents in Astana on Saturday, who came to this country as observers for the parliamentary elections.
During the meeting, Kazakh Foreign Minister informed German deputies about the preparations for the elections to the Majilis. He stressed that in accordance with the current law, the next Parliament will be formed from at least two political parties regardless of the results of the elections. He said that this step confirms Kazakhstan's commitment to the ideas of multiparty and political pluralism.
Regarding the cooperation in the political sphere, Kazykhanov noted that the political dialogue between Astana and Berlin is open. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's upcoming visit to Germany in February will give a strong impetus to the development of our bilateral relations.
The program of the visit testifies to the strengthening of a political dialogue, diversification of trade and economic cooperation and strengthening of the cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The urgent issues of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, mutual trips of citizens, cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were also considered within the meeting.
