There are no reports about violations during the elections in Kazakhstan, the head of a group of observers of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS) Alexander Torshin said.
"The elections are held in a calm atmosphere," he said. "All polling stations have the necessary equipment. People are skilled and friendly. According to our observers, everywhere constituencies opened on time. Voter turnout is high enough for the parliamentary elections."
Torshin said that IPA CIS includes the representatives from 7 countries.
The CIS observation mission in Kazakhstan began its work before the voting day.
IPA CIS observers promise to present the interim report on January 16.
The elections to Majilis and maslikhats are held today in Kazakhstan. The preliminary election results will be announced on January 16.
The Nur Otan national-democratic party, Adilet, Kazakhstan Patriots' Party, Nationwide social-democratic party, Ak Zhol, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Social Democratic Party Auyl are taking part in the elections.
