BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Central Asian states adopted the “Turkestan Declaration” upon the conclusion of the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan.
The Turkestan Declaration reflects the prospects for further development of inter-parliamentary relations, aimed at expanding economic cooperation and forming a single cultural and historical space of Central Asia.
Maulen Ashimbayev, the Chair and member of the Senate of Kazakhstan, said that the Inter-Parliamentary Forum has to become a frequent event in the political affairs of Central Asian states.
He added that considering the frequency of the meetings between the heads of state of regional countries, the development of inter-parliamentary relations needs to be higher on the agenda.
The first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian States was held in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan from 9 February through 10 February.
The decision to hold the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries was made during the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in July 2022.
