ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 30. Kazakhstan's banks and Kazpost JSC carried out transactions in the amount of 1.13 billion documents using the payment tools in November 2023, Trend reports.
Citing data from Kazakhstan's National Bank, the total value of these transactions was 87.5 trillion tenge (about $191.5 billion).
Money cards and money orders are the most often used payment options in Kazakhstan. At the same time, the average payment order amount in November 2023 was 676,354 tenge (about $1,480).
At the same time, the high share of payment cards in terms of quantity and low share in terms of transaction volume is characterized by the use of this payment instrument mainly for payments and transfers of small amounts.
Checks and electronic payment tools were the least commonly used payment tools during this time period. The distinctiveness of these instruments accounts for a minor portion of their total number and volume of use.
As of December 1, 2023, Kazakhstan had 74.1 million payment cards in circulation. Debit cards are the most common, accounting for 80.7 percent, while credit cards account for 16.5 percent. 2.8 percent of debit cards with credit limits and prepaid cards were used.
