ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 11. Construction of the first automobile tunnel in Kazakhstan through the Shakpak-baba pass and the largest bridge across the Bukhtarma reservoir is set to be completed by the end of 2024, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport of the country, as of today, concrete and asphalt-concrete works have been completed on the automobile tunnel through the Shakpak-baba pass, and lighting has been installed. Work is underway to install video surveillance and lay gas pipes, as well as install ventilation and fire equipment.
Moreover, it is noted that the total length of the two-lane automobile bridge across the Bukhtarma reservoir near the village of Kuigan in the East Kazakhstan region will be 1316 meters.
Currently, 81 percent of the bridge support construction work has been completed. In particular, out of 21 supports, 17 have been constructed, while work continues on the remaining four supports. Construction of the temporary technological bridge, which provides the necessary platforms for the work, has been fully completed.
Furthermore, road works for the approach road, including the establishment of the roadbed and the laying of a sand-gravel mix road surface, have been completed. All necessary materials for further construction and installation work are prepared.
