ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 16. The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $11.4 billion from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the volume of trade turnover increased by 6.55 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($10.7 billion).
At the same time, exports to China for the above period amounted to $5.7 billion, which is 22.7 percent more than January–May 2023 ($4.8 billion).
In addition, imports from China from January through May 2024 decreased by 3.7 percent and amounted to $5.6 billion. From January through May 2023, imports amounted to $5.8 billion.
To note, China became Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in 2023. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China was $31.4 billion in 2023. The volume of trade turnover increased by 30 percent from the same period in 2022 ($24.2 billion).
At the same time, in terms of trade turnover, exports to China during the aforementioned period totaled $14.7 billion, 14.7 percent greater than from January through December 2022 ($13 billion).
In addition, imports from China surged by 50.5 percent from January through December 2023, totaling $16.7 billion. In 2022, imports totaled $11.1 billion.
