Kazakhstan reveals volume of trade turnover with CIS countries in 5M2024

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 16. The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries amounted to $13.3 billion from January through May 2024, which is 11.7 percent less than for the same period in 2023 ($15.1 billion), Trend reports.

Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that exports to the CIS countries for the above period amounted to $5.7 billion, which is 16.4 percent less year-on-year ($6.8 billion).

In addition, the volume of imports from the CIS countries from January through May 2024 decreased by 7.8 percent and amounted to $7.6 billion. For the same period in 2023, this figure was $8.2 billion.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the CIS countries amounted to $35.5 billion from January through December 2023. The volume of trade turnover decreased by 4.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($37.1 billion).

At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to the CIS countries for the above period amounted to $15.9 billion, which is 2.4 percent more than from January through December 2022 ($15.5 billion).

Moreover, imports from the EU countries from January through December 2023 decreased by 9 percent and amounted to $19.6 billion. In 2022, imports amounted to $21.5 billion.
