ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 14. The number of passengers transported by sea transport in Kazakhstan amounted to 23,800 from June through July 2024, Trend reports.
The nation's Bureau of National Statistics reported that compared to the same months in 2023 (26,000), the number of passengers transported increased by 8.4 percent.
In addition to this, from June through July, 142,200 people were transported by inland water transport, which is 78.6 percent more than the same period last year (from June through July 2023 - 79,600 passengers).
Income from passenger transportation in all communications amounted to 318.1 million tenge ($662,000).
Meanwhile, over 976 million passengers were transported across all modes of transport in Kazakhstan from January through July 2024. This is 11.3 percent more than in the same period in 2023.
Passenger turnover for the above period amounted to 46.5 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 14.1 percent more year-on-year.
In addition, passenger turnover increased in Almaty (22.2 percent), Astana (18.3 percent) cities and Mangystau (53.6 percent), Almaty (52.5 percent), Ulytau (32.2 percent), Kostanay (26.4 percent), Zhambyl (18.2 percent), Pavlodar (15.4 percent), Atyrau (9.5 percent), Kyzylorda (7.9 percent), Akmola (3.7 percent), West Kazakhstan (3.3 percent) and Aktobe (0.6 percent) regions.
