BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 17. Kyrgyzstan exported 6,227 cars from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 15 times compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
The total value of these exports, according to data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, reached $49.752 million, rising 6.1 times year-on-year.
The majority of these exports were directed to two countries, primarily Russia and Kazakhstan. Specifically, 3,926 passenger cars were exported to Russia, totaling $35.116 million, which represents a 12-times growth compared to the same period in 2022.
In Kazakhstan, 2,230 passenger cars were exported, amounting to $9.721 million, with the volume of exports increasing by 39 times. In the previous year, only 56 passenger cars were exported to Kazakhstan during the eight-month period.
In contrast, Kyrgyzstan imported over 102,174 passenger cars valued at nearly $1.371 million from January through August 2023.
The import volume increased by 4.6 times compared to the same period in the previous year, and the value saw a 6.5-times year-on-year increase.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $9.407 billion from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 27.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Exports amounted to $1.85 billion, increasing 46.7 percent year-on-year. Imports reached $7.556 billion, growing by 23.3 percent compared to the same months in 2022.
In the structure of the trade turnover, exports accounted for 19.7 percent, while imports made up 80.3 percent.
