Kyrgyzstan sees sharp increase in direct investments from China

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 29. The inflow of direct investments from China to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $52.868 million from January through March 2024, Trend reports.

This is an increase of 80 percent from the corresponding time in 2023 ($29.351 million), as reported by the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

China was the primary investor in Kyrgyzstan during the reviewed months, accounting for 26 percent of all investments in Kyrgyzstan, followed by Russia with 20 percent, Türkiye with 14 percent, the Netherlands with 10 percent, and Germany with 9 percent.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan received $200.3 million in foreign investments in the first quarter of this year, marking a 17.2 percent increase year-on-year.

The largest share of foreign investments, 40 percent, went to manufacturing, 15 percent to trade, 14 percent to mining, and 9 percent to information and communication.
