BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 11. The volume of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to about $6.5 billion from January through May 2024, said First Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee Nazira Kerimalieva, Trend reports.
"The volume of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign and mutual trade in goods from January through May 2024 amounted to about $6.5 billion. The indicator increased by 18.6 percent compared to the first five months of 2023," she said.
According to her, the export shipments went up by 4.8 percent, and the import receipts shot up by 21.7 percent.
"The volume of mutual trade between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EAEU member states from January through May 2024 amounted to about $1.8 billion and decreased by 0.4 percent compared to the first five months of 2023. The largest share of the republic’s mutual trade during this period was with Russia (72.8 percent) and Kazakhstan (25.2 percent)," Kerimalieva added.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $15.660 billion in 2023, a 29.9 percent increase over 2022 ($12.057 billion).
The country's exports amounted to $3.308 billion, up 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan reached $12.352 billion, which is an increase of 26 percent from $9.803 billion in 2022.
